rsNeatPublish Features

Product Summary

rsNeatPublish allows automated deployment of SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016 objects. It couples with rsNeatPublish.XmlGenerator which is a UI that accepts user input (sources such as reports, data sources, etc and targets such as the destination SSRS instance connection string, folder locations, etc) related to the deployment and generates an XML configuration file that is used as input for rsNeatPublish.

Feature List

  • Automated publishing of
    • data sources
    • data sets
    • reports
    • subscriptions (normal and data driven)
    • models (optionally automatically imports associated dsv)
    • images
    • resources (any file type)
    • report parts/components
    • linked reports
    • object properties such as descriptions, specific mime types, etc
  • Accommodates publishing of SSRS objects to both normal/vanilla as well as SharePoint Integrated SSRS installations from a remote (non-SharePoint) machine
  • Automatically detects and links up reports with multiple shared data sets and multiple shared data sources
  • Allows the publishing of configurable embedded data sources
  • The rsNeatPublish executable is run from a command line and is thus ideal for Continuous Delivery/Integration (CI) environments as well as allowing simple integration with automated deployment tools such as TFS, Octopus, TeamCity, Cruise Control, Anthill, etc
  • For non-file objects that are purely definitions such as subscriptions, schedules, linked report definitions, and object properties, as well as deployment automation, the definitions are stored in a file and hence can be source controlled
  • For ease (and speed) of use rsNeatPublish couples with a front end rsNeatPublish.XmlGenerator, that allows the user to specify exactly what is to be published via a convenient user interface (UI). Hence rsNeatPublish.XmlGenerator allows creating and editing of the file that is used as input into rsNeatPublish
  • rsNeatPublish.XmlGenerator allows the importing of source/targets and configuration settings from SSRS project file (.rptproj) for quick start
